Hi my name is Annette Luckett on reading your site not sure if this information is any help on PARKIN.
My Mother's name is Dorothy Luckett (nee Parkin) she is the daughter of Ernest and Gladys Parkin of the UK, who came to Australia in 1950's.
Annette, your comment is interesting. The name "Ernest" is in my Parkin family tree. My maternal grandmother had a brother born in 1868 whose name was Alfred Ernest Parkin. But "Ernest" was a fairly common name. Could you provide some more information? For example, what were the names of your father's parents, and from what part of England did your parents and paternal grandparents come from? If we have this sort of information for people living in England before 1901 then we have census information to go on.
I seem to be having difficulty logging on so this is a test.

Ah. Whilst sorting out my books today, I came across "The Royal Family Bible for the Parkin Family". I had felt drawn to it
and bought it some years ago determined it should go to it's rightful home, but could not find the Parkin family then. So today, when I found your site, I was thrilled.
The names in the front of the Bible start with:-
John Parkin 1858
Bessie Parkin 1861 (died 1862)
William Henry Parkin 1863
Melia Ann Parkin 1866
Alfred Ernest Parkin 1868
Eva Blanche Parkin 1870
Cyrus Parkin 1872
Arthur Tallyn Parkin
Lillian Blanche Parkin 1885
Ethel Baskerville Parkin 1887
John Henry Baskerville Parkin 1889
Hugh Tallyn Parkin 1891
Henrietta Baskerville Parkin 1893
and finally
Arthus Ernest Parkin 1895.
all written in beautiful script obviously by the registrar.
I am hoping I don't lose this again.
Do contact me, I would love to hear from you.
